Division Overview
The Campaign Finance Division is responsible for ensuring compliance with the State's campaign finance laws, rules and regulations. The division is led by a Deputy Director, who has oversight of all division staff and who reports directly to the Executive Director. This division performs duties in the following areas:

Compliance
- Sends notices to committees prior to report deadlines
- Sends noncompliance letters for overdue reports
- Sends penalty waivers and assessments for late reports
- Investigates complaints alleging campaign finance violations
- Investigates prohibited activity identified during audits
- Answers policy questions and drafts advisory opinions
- Manages public financing programs at state and local level
- Manages Political Party Financing Fund
- Manages collection of forfeitures and escheats owned by committees
- Manages records requests placed with financial institutions

Audit
- Audits all campaign finance reports filed with the SBOE
- Assists committees with resolving audit issues
- Refers disclosed prohibited activity to the Deputy Director
- Reconstructs disclosure reports
- Performs in-depth financial record audits
- Works in conjunction with compliance staff to resolve complaints
- Provides helpdesk support for disclosure software and forms
- Assists CBEs with audit issues
- Conducts campaign finance wellness checks

Training
- Develops and delivers mandatory treasurer training
- Schedules and conducts classroom training sessions
- Monitors online training to address potential problems
- Develops and maintains disclosure forms
- Oversees proper filing of Statements of Economic Interest

Administrative
- Answers general campaign finance questions
- Maintains security of confidential information
- Maintains committee files
- Coordinates all mailings
- Imports electronically-filed reports
- Scans committee filings
- Enters report information into the state's report database
- Fills requests for information
